North Korea finally lifts COVID restrictions on Chinese travel

North Korea is slowly reopening its borders, previously closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, first to Russian visitors and soon to Chinese visitors. Koryo Tours, a Chinese travel agency specializing in North Korean tourism, announced on its official website on February 3 that it has begun accepting bookings for tours to Rason, North Korea, between February and April. Meanwhile, another China-based North Korea travel agency, Youth Pioneer Travel, is also selling Rason tour packages on its official website for travel from March 2 to March 6.


5.01 Billion Domestic Trips During 2025 Spring Festival Holiday, Up 5.9% Year-on-Year

According to estimates from the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, China recorded 5.01 billion domestic trips during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, representing a 5.9% year-on-year increase. The total domestic travel expenditure reached 677.002 billion yuan, marking a 7.0% increase compared to last year.


14.37 Million Cross-Border Trips During Spring Festival Holiday

On February 5, the National Immigration Administration announced that during this year’s Spring Festival holiday, border inspection agencies across the country processed a total of 14.37 million inbound and outbound trips, a 6.3% increase year-on-year. This included 7.67 million trips by mainland residents (up 5%), 5.73 million trips by Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents (up 5.6%), and 958,000 trips by foreigners (up 22.9%).

A total of 525,000 cross-border transport vehicles, including flights, ships, trains, and automobiles, were inspected, reflecting a 14.4% increase compared to the previous year.


75,000 Chinese Tourists Visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024

According to data released by the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Statistics Agency on February 7, the country received a total of 1.377 million foreign tourists in 2024, marking a 14.8% year-on-year increase. Among them, Chinese tourists accounted for nearly 75,000 visits, reflecting a 145% growth compared to the previous year.



China Becomes Vietnam’s Largest Source of Tourists

According to Vietnam’s statistical department, China became Vietnam’s largest source of tourists in January 2025. A total of 575,000 mainland Chinese tourists visited Vietnam during the month, representing a 237% increase compared to the same period last year.

2025 Spring Festival Domestic Flights Down 0.70% Year-on-Year, International Flights Up 21.40%

During the 2025 Spring Festival travel period (January 28 – February 4), the number of domestic passenger flights executed was 112,700, marking a slight 0.70% decline compared to the 2024 Spring Festival period (February 10 – February 17). In contrast, international and regional passenger flights totaled 18,400, showing a 21.40% year-on-year increase.

Notably, February 3 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year) recorded the highest number of domestic passenger flights in a single day, with 14,768 flights. On February 4 (the seventh day of the Lunar New Year), international and regional routes saw the highest single-day passenger flight volume, with 2,368 flights.

Air Astana will introduce a new Guangzhou–Almaty route on March 31, making Guangzhou its fourth direct destination in China after Beijing, Urumqi, and Sanya.



China and India Agree to Resume Direct Flights After Five-Year Hiatus
